The Stokely Disc Golf Method™ • In person
Event policies
What to expect at a Stokely Method™ seminar, clinic or training retreat. Questions? Email lessons@scottstokely.net.
These are in-person, outdoor events
Seminars, clinics and retreats are hands-on coaching in a park or field. Expect to throw a lot of discs, walk, and stand for much of the day.
- Seminars are a full day in a small group, with lots of one-on-one time and your own before and after videos.
- Clinics are shorter sessions for a larger group. You get the same coaching ideas, with less individual time per player.
- Training retreats are multi-day trips for up to four players. Each retreat lists its own details.
Rain or shine
Events go ahead in rain, snow or heat. We look for venues with some cover, but plan for the weather. If conditions become unsafe (for example, lightning), your coach may pause the session or move it.
Know your limits
Disc golf is physical. Throw at a pace that’s right for your body, take breaks when you need them, and tell your coach at check-in about any injury or condition we should know about. If you’re unsure whether a day of throwing is right for you, check with your doctor first.
Insurance
Our in-person events are covered by liability insurance. A certificate of insurance is available on request (for example, for a venue or park permit): email lessons@scottstokely.net.
Venue
The venue is emailed to everyone registered a few days before the event, with directions. Please arrive 15 minutes early so check-in and your before video can start on time.
No recording, please
Please don’t record audio or video during the event. Coaching is built around each player’s body, and recordings shared out of context can teach the wrong thing. Write notes instead: a notepad or your phone’s notes app is welcome. You’ll get your own before and after videos from your coach.
Photos and video for marketing
The Stokely team may take photos and video during events to use on our websites, social media and emails. If you’d rather not be included, tell your coach at check-in, or email lessons@scottstokely.net, and we’ll leave you out.
Testimonials: we love hearing how your day went. If you post about it in our Discord server or send it to Admin Jane, we’ll only share your words on our websites with your OK.
Your videos and information
Your before and after videos are for you. We collect your phone number to reach you about the event, and dietary needs so we can plan lunch at seminars. We don’t sell your information. We email you about the event you registered for; joining our mailing list is a separate choice.
Respect the park and each other
- Follow the park’s rules and share the space with other park users.
- Mark your discs with your name; the field fills up with plastic.
- Pack out what you bring.
- Be kind. Everyone is working on something, at every level.
Refunds and transfers
Seminars and clinics: you can cancel for a refund up to 24 hours before your event starts. The refund is the ticket price minus the payment platform’s fees, which we can’t get back. Less than 24 hours before the event, tickets can’t be refunded.
Training retreats are booked months ahead with guides, transport and excursions paid in advance, so they have their own terms. These apply to players and to non-playing companions alike:
- A 25% non-refundable deposit holds your spot.
- The balance is due 90 days before the retreat.
- Cancel 90 days or more before the retreat: everything you paid except the deposit is refunded.
- Cancel 60 to 89 days before: 50% of the total price is refunded.
- Cancel less than 60 days before: no refund. You can give your spot to another adult (a player for a player’s spot), or we’ll refund you if we fill your spot from the waitlist.
- If we cancel a retreat, we refund everything you paid us. We aren’t responsible for airfare, lodging or other travel you booked yourself.
- We strongly recommend travel insurance.
